Forrest is a passion project dedicated to helping people develop ecological sensitivity through nature-based wellness experiences that fund land conservation.
Background
After our previous startup went under during the first few months of Covid, I spent a lot of time reflecting on my journey and decided to start on a passion project in the climate crisis space. I’ve spent years connecting with nature as an alpinist and traveler which has fueled my desire to work on the climate crisis. The vision of Forrest is to revolutionize land conservation through wellness experiences grounded in ecological tourism. We’re doing that by investing in ecologically valuable land and offering vacation rentals in sustainable eco-homes to help customers develop ecological sensitivity and fund land conservation.
After developing a deck, running financials, and talking with advisors, I decided I wanted to grow the company organically and started by developing an MVP as an artist rather than an entrepreneur.
We launched our MVP July 2021, Here are the highlights:
- Collaborated with partner to architect MVP in Sketchup.
- Developed financial model to accurately predict cashflow and costs per unit.
- Developed construction plan and materials list.
- Completed build working part-time on it over 8 months .
- Designed unit with 70% sustainable & reclaimed materials, solar power, and high efficiency appliances.
- The first unit is currently averaging +$4500 a month in revenue at 90% occupancy.

Next Steps...
